200 Million Americans Now Have Insurance Coverage for Biodesix’s VeriStrat Test; BCBS of FLorida and Health Services Corporation Issue Positive Coverage Decisions

VeriStrat®, Biodesix’ proteomic blood test for patients with advanced NSCLC, has received multiple positive coverage decisions in 2016. As a result, 200 million Americans now have insurance coverage for VeriStrat. The most recent positive coverage decisions include BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) of Florida and Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC).

Provista Diagnostics Announces Pivotal Clinical Results for Videssa Breast – A Simple Blood Test for Early and Accurate Breast Cancer Detection

Provista Diagnostics, Inc. recently announced that Ana Lourenco, M.D. of Rhode Island Medical Imaging, will present data from their second prospective clinical study at the 101st Scientific Assembly & Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in Chicago, IL. Dr. Lourenco will be presenting “Proteomics at Work: Can a Protein-based Blood Assay Help Detect Breast Cancer in Women Aged 25-75 with BI-RADS® 3 or 4 Imaging Findings?” as part of the Breast Imaging (Practice Issues) Education Session. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 3:20 PM in meeting room E451A at the McCormick Place Lakeside Center in Chicago, IL.

SCIEX Partners with University of Manchester to Develop Biomarker Discovery Centre and Multi-Omics Centre for Precision Medicine

SCIEX, a global leader in life science analytical technologies, has today announced that The University of Manchester, UK, has invested in a large suite of high-end SCIEX mass spectrometers for targeted and next-generation proteomics for its new Stoller Biomarker Discovery Centre. With SCIEX’s SWATH® Acquisition technologies, the Centre will be one of the biggest clinical proteomics facilities in the world. It will focus on industrializing proteomics research, and spearhead a series of biomarker development projects and international collaborations.

SCIEX Announces OneOmics Collaborators

SCIEX, a global leader in life science analytical technologies, recently announced collaborators in the OneOmics™ project, an exclusive partnership between Illumina and SCIEX that integrates SWATH™ Acquisition based next-generation proteomics (NGP) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data on the BaseSpace® cloud computing environment. Advaita Bioinformatics, The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) and researchers at Yale University have each developed cloud-based applications and libraries that utilize SWATH Proteomics data in novel ways allowing researchers to analyze and compare proteomics and genomics data. This effort furthers the OneOmics project’s goal of eliminating the informatics barriers that exist between different Omics disciplines.

Cambridge Isotope Laboratories Inc. and MRM Proteomics Sign an Exclusive Worldwide Commercial Supply Agreement

Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, Inc. (CIL), the world’s leading supplier of stable isotopes and stable isotope-enriched small molecules, is working together with MRM Proteomics, Inc. (MRMP), a leading supplier of kits and services for quantitative proteomics to improve quantitative proteomics through quality control and standardization. Many researchers in academics and the life science industries are striving to discover and validate protein and metabolite biomarkers that can be used to diagnose and predict the progression or treatment for disease, and mass spectrometry is commonly used in these studies. A common problem in such studies is that the sample sets are small due to the complexity of the experiments, and each laboratory has its own procedures for calibrating and qualifying the mass spectrometry platforms used. To validate biomarkers discovered in these smaller studies, larger studies must be performed under rigorously controlled conditions.
