Recent Advances in Biomarker Discovery for Parkinson’s Disease, a Satellite Symposium at the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting

Reading time: 2 minutes

A satellite symposium, Recent Advances in Biomarker Discovery for Parkinson’s Disease, is being sponsored by Covance on November 13th, 2011 at the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Worldwide, Parkinson’s disease affects over 4 million people. Unfortunately, treatment options are limited to those that improve symptoms rather than modify disease progression. Development of disease-modifying therapies will require biomarkers that will allow early patient identification and stratification, measures of disease progression, specific drug target engagement, and disease modification by therapeutic interventions.

This symposium will review recent innovations in imaging, genomic, proteomic, and fluid biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease and their potential applications to the clinic.
