Caliper Life Sciences and HistoRx to Provide Integrated Solutions for Superior Protein Quantification of Biomarkers in Tissue

Caliper Life Sciences, Inc. and HistoRx, Inc., recently announced a collaboration to co-develop a new generation of tissue-based imaging and analysis solutions, based on immuno-fluorescence, that will deliver accurate, quantitative, and reproducible measurements of proteins in tissue samples. The collaboration will enable researchers to leverage the combined imaging and analysis power of Caliper’s Vectra, an automated multiplexed tissue imaging platform, and AQUA® technology, HistoRx’s proprietary image analysis system, to provide an integrated platform to advance the identification and validation of new drug targets and improve assessment of drug response.

Biomarker Combinations Successfully Discriminate Between Asthma and COPD

Researchers in Australia have identified a panel of four biomarkers that may aid in the diagnosis and management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The study, published in the American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, found that the biomarkers may be used in different combinations to successfully identify patients with either of the airway diseases.

NextGen Sciences Launches Multiple Protein Plasma Oncology Biomarker Assay

NextGen Group plc is pleased to announce that its subsidiary NextGen Sciences Inc, a leader in biomarker discovery, measurement and qualification, has launched its first multiple protein (multiplex) assay, plasmadiscovery41, for oncology biomarker discovery and qualification. The assay simultaneously measures 41 human plasma proteins that are thought to have potential as biomarkers in cancer, particularly breast, prostate and lung cancers. The launch of plasmadiscovery41 is part of NextGen Sciences strategy of becoming a leading player in the growing oncology and central nervous system (CNS) biomarker markets.
